Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a physical form of exfoliation that requires the use of a modified surgical blade to “shave the surface”. This procedure removes the dead skin and vellus facial hair "peach fuzz", which improves the absorption rate of cosmeceutical skincare ingredients. It is a safe, effective, non-invasive way to reduce the appearance of fine lines, even skin tone, smooth texture, and reduce the appearance of mild surface acne marks. Dermaplaning is a great alternative to microdermabrasion and chemical peels, and can be added to any facial for deeper exfoliation. For smoother-more radiant skin, book a Dermaplaning Facial in Largo FL.
Dermaplaning FAQ’s
-
Is it safe?
Yes. This procedure is very safe when performed by a trained professional. We hold the instrument at a specific angle, and perform short strokes in a specific pattern to remove the dead skin and thin vellus facial hair ("peach fuzz"). You will not feel any pain. The worst incident that can occur may be a small, painless nick. This procedure is no different than a man shaving his face.

Sanitation
Your health and safety is always our first priority in any treatment we perform.
As with all treatments, we disinfect the entire area before and after each client to ensure a clean, sterile working environment.
A new, sterilized surgical blade is used with each client and properly disposed of after use. We wear non latex gloves during the process.
We make sure you are a candidate for this treatment.

Will my hair grow back thiker.
No. This is a myth, and physiologically impossible. Your hair will grow back exactly as it was prior to dermaplaning. If you grow terminal facial hair (coarse, thick, and dark), we recommend not dermaplaning those areas.
-
What is the downtime?
Yes. Dermaplaning is performed by trained, medical aesthetic professionals using a sterile, surgical scalpel on tautly stretched skin. We hold the scalpel at an angle and perform short strokes in a particular pattern to safely exfoliate the skin. Razor blades are not surgically as sharp and cannot exfoliate the skin at the same depth as the scalpel. Dermaplaning is much more effective with a smaller risk of irritation.
-
Is it safe for pregnant women?
Yes, dermaplaning is safe if you're pregnant or nursing, and is a great alternative to chemical peels for a deep exfoliation. Dermaplaning will keep your skin clean and clear, and help manage superficial pigmentation (brown spots) that may occur due to hormonal fluctuations. We always advise you speak to your physician before receiving any treatment while pregnant/ nursing.

What is the downtime?
There is no down time. Avoid direct sunlight for a few days, and make sure you wear sunscreen. Always wear sunscreen!

How often can I get dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning can be safely performed every 3-4 weeks after the skin rejuvenation cycle is complete. We are removing weeks worth of dead cell buildup each time we dermaplane.
